First of the Day

The sand was still wet as the tide moved out.  The shapes of the rocks and the shadows cast were what interested me in choosing this subject for painting.

The composition for my painting fit within my initial sketch.  I really only focus on getting the shapes right in my sketch and making sure everything fits in my composition.  I needed the warm up before I started painting.

When I went about picking my spot to paint, I had to make sure my pastels would not get wet.  Most of the beach at this point was wet.  I was not sure at first if the tide was coming in or going out.
