| I quickly established the highlights and then I went directly to the shadows. I went from the lightest points in the painting to the darkest paintings. |

| Once I found the lightest and darkest parts of the painting, I made adjustments towards the middle. Usually I would move in one direction. I would move from lightest to darkest or darkest to lightest. Because of the extreme amount of detail in the cliffs, I had to adopt a different approach. |

| From this point in the painting it was all about making adjustments between the shadows and the highlights to insure everything was balanced. |
