Adjustments

My drawing and painting has improved since I began doing quick sketches before I paint.  My compositions have improved greatly because of them.  I use them purely for reference points in my composition where other artists use them for value patterns.

This painting was simpler in compostion and more direct.  There was a lot less fussing around with the color and the shapes.  Once I established the hill in the background I adjusted the colors and shapes in the fore and middle ground areas of the painting.  This painting was simpler because there were a lot less variation in the depth of the painting.
