NEXT ASSOCIATION MEETING is March 11thOur next meeting and pot-luck will be on Wednesday March 11th at the Muth Interpretive Center. We will be meeting in the theater. Bring a pot-luck dish to share.
Time will be 11:00 am - 12:00 noon. If you have not renewed your membership for 2020 you can still do so. Membership is only for a calendar year, so if you renew now you still get almost a full year of benefits. At $65 a year, SOCALPAPA is a great value. We offer monthly demos, quick draw events like the Toll Road paint out, plus our signature Back Bay Show and post weekly paint locations so you can paint with your fellow artists.

I was half watching soccer and half reading email when I ran across this bulletin. It was already a little after 10 am but I thought if I could hurry, I could be painting by 11 am.
I missed the demo by Dawn but it was awesome. I love seeing other pastelists work.
One of the painters had this awesome color chart and sketch book.

Just getting started. Values and shapes starting to come together.
The basic composition is in and the details are starting to fall into place.
There was going to be too much 0f the open grass in the middle of the painting. I had to balance the composition by adding the tree in the middle.
I had to add the small tree to balance the composition.
