Less Is More

When I started the painting I wanted to get the clouds and sky right because I did not know how long they were going to last.  As usual I am painting on masonite treated with pumice gel and acrylic paint.

After the sky and clouds were rendered I went a little too quickly into the color of the hills in the distance.  I think if I were to paint this again I would work the details of the hills in complementary colors to the local color of the hills and then fade them out a little with broad strokes of local color blending in the distant hills.  The further away the hills the more blending.
